I am running a grassroots campaign for a seat on the Kaua’i and Ni’ihau County Council. I am not accepting special interest, or corporate donations. As your candidate I will be working tirelessly to ensure that the coming years will bring brighter days for Kauai. For the last two years I have been reading and researching the history and workings of the Kauai County Council, the General Plan and the many responsibilities of serving as a Councilmember.
My background is in business, not government. I do not use the term small business because to every owner who was essentially forced to shutter, sometimes after generations of ownership, that business was everything to them. I use the term local business and if I have a say, what happened in 2020 will never be allowed to happen again.

The Council is the legislative branch of our local government. It consists of seven members who vote on agenda items set by the chair. I have read all 586 pages of The General Plan, both annual and capital budgets, Rules of the County Council and The Charter Of The County of Kauai. I have the skills and experience to work as part of the team to provide a balanced annual and capital budget and provide the revenue to fund them.
If elected in the spirit of the General Plan I would like to see the creation of regular Town Hall meetings for citizens to discuss the important issues of the day.
Two years of rule by mandates and proclamations issued in Oahu and for the most part also here on our island and the suspension of Sunshine Laws have left a lot of citizens feeling disenfranchised and voiceless. Our government permitted and we allowed them to label the population essential and non essential. The General Plan does not work unless the foundational premise of creating a Kakou Community is more than lip service.
